Most people are looking at alternative ways to increase their health. Certainly, Omega3 is a healthy oil that is one of those alternative ways. It is strange to think that natural oils, minerals and vitamins, are considered modern alternatives. Seeing as they have been around for many years. Therefore, Omega oils are used for an array of conditions. Fortunately, most Chiropractors will recommend this oil.


Omega3 is a healthy oil that contains very important docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Thus, Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients. Therefore, they are important in preventing and managing heart disease. Most importantly, Omega3 oils are most commonly found in fish. But, there is a vegan option, Flaxseed oil.


The role of Omega3


Omega3’s play important roles in the body. Because, the components of the phospholipids that form the structures of cell membranes. Furthermore, DHA, is especially high in the retina, brain, and sperm. In addition to their structural role in cell membranes, omega3’s provides energy for the body. Therefore, they are used to form eicosanoids. Eicosanoids are signalling molecules that have similar chemical structures to the fatty acids. That is to say, have wide-ranging functions in the body. Including functions in the cardiovascular, pulmonary, immune, and endocrine systems. Most importantly, findings show omega-3 fatty acids may help to:


  • Reduce inflammation
  • Improve brain health
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduce triglycerides (Bad oils)
  • Slow the development of plaque in the arteries
  • Reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm
  • Reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke
  • Lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease

The side effects

Side effects of Omega3 fish oil may include:

  • A fishy taste in your mouth
  • Fishy breath
  • Stomach upset
  • Loose stools
Consequently, a deficiency of essential fatty acids can cause rough, scaly skin and dermatitis. Plasma and tissue concentrations of DHA decrease when an omega-3 fatty acid deficiency is present. Yet, there are no known cut-off concentrations of DHA or EPA. Therefore, we do not know below which functional endpoints, such as for the visual or neural function or immune response, are impaired. Overall, most of these organizations recommend a minimum of 250–500 mg combined EPA and DHA each day for healthy adults. However, higher amounts are often recommended for certain health conditions.
