Slumping of the head forward with rounding of the shoulders will increase the curvature in the mid back and this will cause pain and discomfort and it is called upper cross syndrome.

This is a very common condition and affects all kinds of ages and genders. The elderly and students are very commonly affected. It is a gradual onset of dull achy, neck and upper back secondary to poor postural habits or prior neck/upper back injuries.

Treatment:

A chiropractor can definitely treat this type of pain by doing the following:

  • Spinal manipulation therapy
  • soft tissue therapy that includes accupuncture, massage, fascia release and kinesiology taping.
  • Home care -ICE therapy, stretching and a short term use of anti-inflammation medication.
  • Core stability training.
  • Postural advice

Prognosis of postural syndrome is excellent, full recovery is expected.
